Annular Solar Eclipse in Gemini - Update your social networking profile pictures and review your communication devices!
Solar Eclipses are special versions of the New Moon, which occur when the Moon blocks the light of the Sun
On Thursday June 10th, 2021 there will be an annular solar eclipse in Gemini, the sign that is paired with Sagittarius, where a partial lunar eclipse occurred on May 26th.
An annular solar eclipse will be visible from northeastern Canada to the Arctic Ocean, northeastern Russia, and around the North Pole, whereas a partial solar eclipse will be visible in northerneastern America, Europe, Russia, and Central Asia.
Solar eclipses occur when the Moon passes in between the Earth and the Sun.
On the day of a solar eclipse, if we were to look at the Earth from space, we would see that the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun are aligned in a perfectly straight line, so that the Moon ends up blocking the light coming from the Sun, and casts a shadow on the Earth.
At times when the Moon is close to the Earth, the Sun becomes completely hidden by the Moon, resulting in a “total lunar eclipse.” However, at times when the Moon is further away from the Earth, it can’t completely hide the Sun, which results in an “annular solar eclipse” in which a ring of light appears along the outer edge of the Sun.
Partial solar eclipses occur when the Sun and the Moon meet at a point slightly away from the line connecting the Earth and the Moon.
During total solar eclipses, the Sun becomes completely black, and the corona, the outermost part of the Sun’s atmosphere, can be seen erupting.
As the Sun’s rays are blocked, the surroundings become darker and darker, and the temperature drops by 2 to 5 degrees Celsius (3.5 to 9 degrees Fahrenheit).
It’s a very dramatic sight, and there are even “eclipse hunters” who travel by plane or ship to places where they can fully observe these eclipses.
In areas where eclipses can be observed, they have a particularly strong impact
In ancient times, eclipses were thought to be bad luck.
People must have had a great fear of eclipses, because the Sun, the source of life, was hidden from view. Myths from around the world are full of stories about eclipses where snakes or demons swallow the Sun, causing evil things to infest the Earth.
In Japanese mythology as well, it is said that Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess, hid herself in Amano-Iwato cave, and as a result of the darkness the world was plagued with infectious diseases and other disasters all at once. Some researchers believe that this myth may be a reference to solar eclipses.
People observed the movements of the celestial bodies in order to predict when such disasters would occur, and to take precautions. This was the beginning of astrology.
In ancient Babylonia, people observed the part of the Sun that was missing, and based on this, they would try to predict what kind of disasters would happen and in which locations.
Modern Western astrology also believes that eclipses have a powerful impact on areas where they can be observed.
You may think that this means that there won’t be any impact on areas where an eclipse cannot be seen, but that’s not necessarily the case. It’s not as if a butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil causes a huge tornado to occur in Texas, but in this modern age when the world is so intricately connected, it’s impossible that other parts of the world remain entirely unaffected when an eclipse occurs.
Spend the next six months being mindful of the qualities of Gemini!
So to recap, solar eclipses are special versions of a New Moon.
And their power is incredibly strong.
According to Keiko’s Moon Astrology, New Moons are a great time for “sowing seeds” and they are also the perfect time to start something new. Keiko always points out that if you spend the two week period after a New Moon being mindful of the qualities of that sign, you can acquire the power of that sign.
When there’s a solar eclipse, which is a magnified version of the New Moon, it’s recommended that you stay aware of the qualities of that sign until the Full Moon of the same sign occurs six months later.
In this case, it would be advisable to stay conscious of the qualities of Gemini for the next six months, until the Full Moon in Gemini, which will occur on December 18th.
Gemini is one of the principle signs of the Air Era and it symbolizes:
Language
Information
Correspondence
Communication
Learning
Additionally, Mercury, the ruling planet of Gemini, will be in conjunction with this eclipse, so there’s a great possibility that new innovations will be made in the areas of communications and information.
Therefore, it would be smart to spend the next six months working out how to look at things, and how to communicate in a way that is appropriate for the Air Era.
One more thing to note is that Mercury is in retrograde until June 22nd.
You may find yourself groping around in the dark and asking yourself questions such as, “What does this mean?” and, “Is this really what I want?” In other words, it’s likely going to take some time to totally figure things out. And that’s probably why the Universe gives us a six-month time frame to accomplish this task.
The December 18th Full Moon in Gemini will be a Power Wish time that marks the end of the Aquarius Great Conjunction Period (when Jupiter and Saturn are both in Aquarius).
The six month period from the time of the New Moon in Gemini to the time of the Full Moon in Gemini could be thought of as a time to be conscious of how you should go about living your life during the Air Era.
During this time you may want to review the way you communicate at work and on the job, and try out new communication methods and useful apps that facilitate communication.
Updating your profile pictures on your various social media platforms is also highly recommended.
If you feel that something isn’t right about the way you’ve been doing things up until now, give yourself the next six months to improve it.
This new way of doing things should become your standard way of doing things in the Air Era.
